Mental health prevention and care program
Adolescence (10 to 19 years) is a unique and formative stage, filled with physical, emotional, and social changes that can make teenagers highly vulnerable to mental health issues. It is important to have a supportive environment in the family, school, and the community at large. To date, mental health topics are avoided and remain highly stigmatized disorders, which greatly hinders their prevention and early detection.
Emotional disorders can deeply affect academic performance and school attendance. Social withdrawal can exacerbate isolation and loneliness. In the worst-case scenario, depression can lead to suicide.
Objective
To raise awareness for the prevention and early attention of mental health. The early approach to mental health difficulties in the child and youth population is a fundamental axis to prevent and/or reduce future long-term mental pathologies. Investing today in the mental health prevention of our children and teenagers ensures that our adults of the future will have better tools to face day-to-day challenges.
